Description
TRG Super Colour Shoe Paint Spray Saddle Tan 310 – a complete change of colour from a 150ml can
Some shoes are past polishing. The colour has gone patchy, the toes are scuffed through, and no cream on earth will make them look right again. That is where a saddle tan shoe paint spray earns its place: it does not tint the leather, it recolours it, and it turns a tired pair back into a wearable pair in an afternoon.
TRG Super Colour is an opaque aerosol paint in a 150ml can, and shade 310 is Saddle Tan – the warm, mid-tan of a good riding saddle. It is one of the most useful browns in the range because it flatters brogues, boots, loafers and bags without looking orange.
The big advantage of this paint over most others is that it works in both directions. Ordinarily you can only recolour leather from light to dark. TRG Super Colour is opaque enough to go the other way as well, so a dark brown or even a black shoe can be brought up to saddle tan with enough thin coats.
It stays elastic once it has dried, which is essential on footwear. A rigid paint cracks along the flex line within a week. This one moves with the leather, so it stays on the shoe where it belongs.
Why choose this saddle tan shoe paint spray?
- Genuinely opaque coverage. This is a paint, not a tint. It covers old colour, patchy dye and scuffed toes rather than letting them show through, which is exactly what a rescue job needs.
- Works light to dark and dark to light. Most recolouring products only go darker. TRG will take you lighter too, though you should expect to need more thin coats to get there.
- Stays elastic on the shoe. The dried film flexes with the leather instead of cracking along the vamp, which is what separates a proper shoe paint from an ordinary spray paint.
- Suits leather and synthetics. Smooth leather, coated leather, synthetic uppers, canvas and plastic trims all take the colour, so a mixed-material shoe finishes evenly.
- An aerosol gives you an even finish. Spraying leaves no brush marks. On a large area like a boot shaft or a bag panel, that is a far better result than you will get by hand.
- Handy on bags and jackets too. The same can works on leather bags, belts and jackets, so one 150ml aerosol can rescue more than just footwear.
How to use TRG Super Colour 310
- Clean the item thoroughly and let it dry. On glossy or heavily finished leather, use a preparer or deglazer first so the paint can grip.
- Mask off the soles, the welt, the lining and any hardware with masking tape, and stuff the shoes with paper to hold their shape.
- Shake the can well for a good minute and test the spray on a piece of card first.
- Spray from about twenty to twenty-five centimetres away in light, sweeping passes. Thin coats, always – a heavy coat will run and it will crack later.
- Let each coat dry, then apply the next. Two or three thin coats give a far better result than one thick one, and going lighter than the original colour will need more.
- Leave the finished item to harden fully before wearing it, then flex the leather gently by hand to settle the paint into the creases.
Once the paint has cured, a light protector spray keeps water and dirt off the new surface. Recolouring is not difficult, but it is worth taking your time on the masking – a crisp edge along the welt is what makes the job look professional.

Frequently asked questions
Can I really spray a dark shoe saddle tan?
Yes, though it takes patience. TRG Super Colour is opaque enough to work dark to light, but plan on several thin coats and accept that the very first pass will look uneven. Prepare the surface properly with a deglazer and the finish will be worth the effort.
Will the paint crack when I walk?
Not if you apply it in thin coats and let each one dry. The dried film is elastic and moves with the leather. Cracking almost always comes from one heavy coat applied over a dirty or glossy surface.
