Description
TRG Easy Dye 120 Brown Sugar – Leather, Canvas and Synthetic Shoe Dye 25ml – a warm caramel brown that revives tired leather and canvas
Brown Sugar is a warm, caramel-toffee brown with a soft, inviting glow – the kind of cosy mid-brown that looks lovely on boots, brogues and canvas shoes alike. TRG Easy Dye 120 Brown Sugar lets you bring that rich, warm colour to smooth leather, synthetic leather and canvas, refreshing a faded pair or deepening a plain one.
It is one of my favourite everyday browns because it flatters so many outfits. The formula is water-based and solvent-free, it comes with the clever double-sided sponge, and the pigment is strong enough to cover scuffs and worn toes in a couple of thin coats. Once dry it stays put, moving with the leather without cracking or peeling.
Why choose TRG Easy Dye 120 Brown Sugar?
- A warm caramel-brown tone – a cosy, toffee-like mid-brown that flatters boots and brogues, perfect for warming up faded leather and canvas.
- Water-based and solvent-free – a kinder, low-odour formula that is safer to use at home, with none of the harsh fumes you get from old-fashioned spirit dyes.
- Dyes leather, synthetic leather and canvas – one little pot handles smooth leather shoes, faux-leather bags and canvas trainers, so it is brilliant for mixed-material footwear.
- Handy double-sided sponge included – one side gently keys the surface so the dye grips, the other lays the colour down evenly, so you get a neat finish with no extra brushes to buy.
- Covers scuffs and worn patches – the high pigment load hides scrapes, tide-marks and faded areas, bringing tired shoes back to life instead of sending them to the bin.
- Flexible finish that moves with the leather – once dry it will not crack, peel or rub off in normal wear, so your refreshed shoes keep looking smart for months.
How to use TRG Easy Dye Brown Sugar
- Wipe the shoes clean and remove any dirt, polish or grease with a little rubbing alcohol or a leather de-greaser, then let them dry.
- Take the rougher side of the included sponge and gently key the surface, so the dye has something to grip.
- Mask off soles, stitching and any parts you want to keep clear, and stuff the shoes with paper to hold their shape.
- Using the smooth side of the sponge, apply the dye in thin, even coats, working in one direction for a streak-free look.
- Let each coat dry for around an hour, then build up two or three thin layers until you reach the depth of colour you want.
- Leave the final coat to cure for a few hours, then buff gently with a soft cloth. I like to finish with a matching TRG shoe cream to feed the leather and lock in the shine.

Frequently asked questions
What colour is Brown Sugar?
Brown Sugar is a warm, caramel-toffee brown – a little softer and sweeter than a plain chocolate brown, with a lovely golden warmth. It suits a huge range of shoes and bags, which makes it a really versatile everyday brown.
Will Brown Sugar cover a faded, patchy boot?
Yes, this is exactly what it is made for. The high pigment load evens out fading, scuffs and dry patches. Build it up in two or three thin coats rather than one heavy layer and you will get a smooth, even, natural-looking finish.
Do I need a separate lacquer or topcoat?
No, and that is one of the things I love about it. TRG Easy Dye sets to a hard-wearing, flexible finish on its own, so there is no fiddly finisher to buy. If you want a little extra water resistance I would simply add a matching TRG shoe cream or a spray protector once the dye has fully cured.
