Slitesterk EKO Mimosa Suede Dabber – soft yellow colour and real nourishment for suede
Suede care usually stops at a protector spray, and that is a shame. Suede is a vulnerable leather: it dries out slowly and quietly, and once it does, water marks and dirt take hold, the material creases and eventually it tears. A dabber does what a spray cannot — it feeds the leather while it puts the colour back.
This mimosa suede dabber carries a warm, soft yellow, the colour of mimosa flowers, in an ecologically sound formula. The sponge head sits in the neck of the bottle, so you tip, dab and work the colour straight into the nap with complete control. It is one of my favourite ways to rescue a pair of pale yellow suede shoes that have gone dull.
Why choose the Slitesterk EKO Mimosa Suede Dabber?
- It nourishes, not just recolours. Suede that has been fed stays soft and keeps its nap. That is what stops the creasing and cracking that finishes most suede shoes off long before the soles wear out.
- An ecologically sound formula. The EKO range is Slitesterk’s environmentally responsible line — kinder ingredients, and no harsh smell filling the kitchen while you work.
- A soft, warm yellow that revives rather than repaints. Mimosa is a gentle sunny yellow. It lifts faded pale yellow and cream suede back to life without the flat, chalky look that a heavy dye gives.
- The sponge head gives you precision. You can work the colour into a scuffed toe or a worn heel counter without flooding the whole shoe, and you can reach right up to a smooth leather trim without touching it.
- Vitalises the nap. Once dry and brushed, the fibres stand up again and the suede regains its velvety, matte texture.
How to use the Slitesterk EKO Mimosa Suede Dabber
Take your time with the brushing at each end — it makes all the difference.
- Brush the suede firmly with a crepe or brass suede brush to lift the nap and remove every trace of dust.
- Clean off any greasy or shiny patches with a suede cleaner and let the shoes dry naturally.
- Shake the bottle well and test the colour on a hidden area, such as the inside of the heel.
- Press the sponge head against the suede to start the flow, then dab and stroke the colour on in even, overlapping passes.
- Treat the whole panel rather than just the worn spot, so the colour stays uniform.
- Let the shoes dry for a couple of hours away from direct heat, then brush the nap up again with a suede brush.
Finish with a suede protector spray once the shoes are completely dry, and keep the dabber upright with the cap on between uses.

Frequently asked questions
What is a dabber, exactly?
It is a bottle with a sponge head built into the neck. You press it against the leather and the colour flows through the sponge, which lets you work it into the nap by hand. Far more control than a spray, and no overspray on your soles.
Will mimosa work on a darker yellow suede?
It is a soft, light yellow, so on a deep ochre or mustard suede it will lighten the shade rather than match it. On pale yellow, cream-yellow and faded lemon suede it is spot on. Always test first.
Do I still need a suede protector?
Yes. The dabber feeds and recolours; a protector spray is what keeps rain and stains off afterwards. Apply the protector once the suede is fully dry and brushed.
