Fifteen minutes from dusty to done, and only about three of those are hands-on.

1. Remove the laces and brush the shoes clean, working the brush into the welt and around the eyelets.
2. Treat any salt or grease marks with a leather cleaner and let the shoes dry fully at room temperature.
3. Take a small amount of cream on a cloth or dauber and spread it thinly over the whole shoe, not just the scuffed part — even coverage is what keeps the colour uniform.
4. Work the cream into the creases, the toe and the heel with light circular pressure.
5. Allow ten to fifteen minutes for the waxes to settle.
6. Brush briskly with a horsehair brush and finish with a cloth. A second thin coat will deepen the shade if you want more warmth.

Smooth leather only, and always test on a hidden area first. On very pale tan leather, build the colour up slowly rather than applying one heavy coat.

What kind of leather is canyon meant for?

Warm tan, cognac-into-rust and terracotta leathers. It is a lovely shade for casual boots and desert boots that have faded on the toe. On a cool, greyish brown it will read as too orange.

Does solvent-free mean it works more slowly?
