Description

Saphir Everest Leather Grease 100ml – heavy-duty protection since 1920

When the weather turns and your boots need to keep the wet out, you want something you can trust. Saphir Everest leather grease has been protecting leather since 1920, making it one of the oldest products in the Saphir range. Based on natural vegetable fats, it nourishes, softens and waterproofs smooth leather so your boots shrug off the worst of a British winter.

This is the tin I reach for when someone buys walking boots. It’s built for hiking and mountaineering boots, work boots, football boots and golf shoes – anything that lives outdoors and takes a battering from snow, mud and rain.

Saphir is a French house founded in 1920, and worldwide it’s regarded as a leader for the quality and range of its leather care, shoe care and renovation products. Everest sits right at the heart of that heritage. Leather is a natural material, and like your own skin it dries out over time – especially when it’s repeatedly soaked and dried out on the hills. Feeding it with a rich grease replaces the oils the weather strips away, which is what keeps boots supple and stops the leather cracking at the flex points. Look after good boots this way and they’ll last you many seasons.

Why choose Saphir Everest Leather Grease?

  • Serious waterproofing: a rich layer of grease seals the leather against water, snow and dirt.
  • Nourishes and softens: natural vegetable fats feed the leather, keeping it supple and preventing cracking.
  • Built for the outdoors: ideal for walking, mountaineering and work boots that face harsh conditions.
  • Trusted heritage: a Saphir classic, made in France and available since 1920.
  • A little goes a long way: the 100ml tin treats many pairs over its life.

How to use Saphir Everest Leather Grease

  1. Clean your boots first and let them dry – grease traps in whatever is on the surface.
  2. For deeper penetration, gently warm the leather (a little heat from a hairdryer helps).
  3. Apply a thin, even layer of grease with a soft cloth or your fingers.
  4. Work it into the seams and welt, where water usually gets in.
  5. Leave it to soak in, then buff off any excess with a clean cloth.

Haico’s tip

Warm leather drinks the grease in far better than cold. Warm your boots gently before applying and you’ll get deeper nourishment and longer-lasting waterproofing. Do keep grease well away from suede and nubuck though – it’s strictly for smooth leather.

Frequently asked questions

Will it darken my leather? Greases can slightly darken leather, which is normal for this type of product. Always test on a hidden area first if you’re unsure.

Can I use it on suede or nubuck? No. Grease will flatten and stain suede and nubuck – only use it on smooth leather.

How often should I re-apply? Before a big trip and whenever water stops beading on the surface. In wet, muddy conditions that might be every few outings.

Can I use it on new boots? Yes – treating new leather boots before their first big outing builds up protection from the start. Just clean off any factory finish and apply a thin, even layer.

Where can I buy Saphir Everest Leather Grease in the UK? You can order it directly from Shoespecialist.co.uk. We offer free delivery on orders over £50, same-day dispatch when you order before 5pm, and a 60-day return policy.
