Description
Saphir Canadian Beige Leather Cream 16 – 75ml Wax-Rich Renovating Cream – the cream for beige jackets, bags and boots that have gone dusty
Beige leather looks marvellous and shows absolutely everything. A stone-coloured jacket picks up grubby cuffs, a beige bag develops dark patches where hands hold it, and a pair of sand boots goes dusty and flat across the toes. Because the shade is so pale, there is very little depth to lose before the whole thing reads as tired.
Saphir Canadian in shade 16 is built for exactly that sort of item. It is constructed around a very high proportion of beeswax, more than thirty per cent, which is what lets a single pass do so much: it lifts light soiling, feeds the fibres, tops up faded colour and leaves a soft sheen with real water resistance behind it.
It is noticeably more concentrated and waxier than a standard renovating cream, which is why Saphir intend it for large surfaces. Jackets, gilets, bags, luggage, furniture and saddlery, as well as shoes. That distinction matters more than people expect: an ordinary shoe cream leaves a little loose pigment on the surface, which does no harm on a boot but ends up on your shirt from a jacket sleeve. Canadian is formulated so that once it is buffed out it stays exactly where you put it, and it dries quickly without any stickiness. Saphir have been making leather care in France since 1920.
Why choose the Saphir Canadian Beige?
Why Canadian rather than a standard shoe cream in beige.
- Made for jackets, bags and furniture. The formula is judged so the pigment stays put once buffed, which is precisely what you need on sleeves, straps and anything that touches clothing.
- More than thirty per cent beeswax. The wax-rich base nourishes thick, thirsty leather and leaves a protective layer that helps repel light rain and everyday grime.
- Cleans as it feeds. One pass lifts surface dirt and dulled old polish while conditioning the leather underneath, so a neglected item looks cared for rather than merely shiny.
- Restores faded beige properly. Enough pigment to even out sun-bleached panels and pale wear marks without covering up the natural grain.
- Highly concentrated. You need very little per application, so a 75ml tube treats a jacket, a couple of bags and a pair of boots without any trouble.
How to use the Saphir Canadian Beige
There is a lot of pigment in Canadian, so use it sparingly and build up rather than loading the cloth.
- Brush the item down with a soft brush to clear surface dust, and let it dry fully if it is at all damp.
- Test on a hidden section first, such as an inside seam or the underside of a bag, and judge the shade once it has dried.
- Squeeze a small amount onto a polishing cloth. Less than you think you need is the right amount with this cream.
- Work it into the leather in circular movements, one panel at a time, keeping the layer thin and even.
- Let it dry for a few minutes so the waxes set and the pigment settles into the grain.
- Buff out thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth until nothing transfers onto your fingers, then move on to the next panel.
My tip from behind the counter
On a jacket, always buff until a clean white cloth comes away clean. It is the single test that tells you the job is finished. Beige pigment on a dark shirt collar is the complaint I hear most often about coloured leather creams, and it is never the cream’s fault. It is a panel that was loaded too heavily and buffed too lightly.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Canadian and a normal shoe cream?
Concentration and intended use. Canadian carries far more beeswax and is designed for large surfaces such as jackets, bags and furniture, where it must not transfer once buffed. A standard shoe cream is optimised for footwear and for shine rather than for coverage across a big panel.
Will beige cover the dark marks on my bag handles?
It will improve them considerably. Those marks are usually a mixture of hand oils and ingrained dirt, so clean the area first, then apply the cream thinly and build it up. Deeply darkened leather will lighten but rarely disappear entirely.
Can I use it on a beige leather sofa?
Yes, on finished leather, and it works well on faded arms and seat cushions. Test underneath a cushion first, work one panel at a time, and buff each section out completely before you move on so nothing transfers onto clothing.
