Description

Royal Leather Colour Revive Cognac 026 – for leather that has gone too far for an ordinary cream.

There is a point at which a leather sofa stops responding to conditioner. The arms have gone pale, the seat cushions have a grey cast where the sun has hit them, and the dog has done what dogs do to the front edge. A lotion will feed that leather but it will not put the colour back. This cognac leather repair paint will. It is a semi-professional, water-based colourant with a serious pigment load – near enough a paint, and I would rather say that plainly than dress it up.

It dries to a silk-matt finish, which is the important detail. A glossy repair paint announces itself from across the room; silk matt sits down into the leather and reads as original colour. The 250ml bottle is generous enough for a two-seater sofa, a pair of armchairs, or a large batch of bags, jackets and boots. Cognac 026 is a warm mid-tan that sits naturally on classic English and Italian upholstery leather.

Why choose Royal Leather Colour Revive?

  • Real pigment, real coverage. Where a leather lotion tints, this restores. Faded arms, sun-bleached backs and worn front edges genuinely come back.
  • Water-based. No solvent fumes filling the living room, easy clean-up, and safe to use indoors over a weekend.
  • Silk-matt finish. It dries to the same soft sheen as most factory-finished furniture leather, so repairs blend rather than shine.
  • Not just for furniture. Bags, jackets, boots, belts, car interiors – anywhere smooth leather has lost its colour.
  • 250ml goes a long way. Applied thinly, as it should be, one bottle covers far more than most people expect.

How to use Royal Leather Colour Revive

  1. Wipe the piece down. A damp cloth over the whole surface first, to lift loose dirt and dust.
  2. Degrease properly. This is the step that separates a repair that lasts from one that peels. Use a leather degreaser to take off body oils, old creams and silicone residue, especially on headrests and arms.
  3. Let it dry completely. Do not rush this. Any moisture left in the hide will trap under the colour.
  4. Shake the bottle well. Pigment settles. Give it a proper shake before you start and again halfway through.
  5. Apply thinly, in small sections. Use a clean cloth or a sponge and work in circular motions across an area about the size of a seat cushion at a time. Thin and even is the whole game.
  6. Add a second coat if needed. Once the first coat has dried, judge the coverage. Two thin coats always look better than one thick one.
  7. Leave it a full day. Give it at least 24 hours to cure properly before anyone sits down or the bag goes back into use.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a leather care lotion?

A lotion feeds and conditions, and it may deposit a very slight tint. This is a pigmented repair paint – it puts a new layer of colour onto the surface. If your leather is dry but still the right colour, use a lotion. If the colour has actually gone, you need this.

Do I have to degrease first, or can I skip it?

Please do not skip it. Degreasing is the single biggest factor in whether the finish stays put. Body oils and old silicone-based creams stop the colour bonding, and the result is a repair that lifts within weeks. Ten minutes with a degreaser saves the whole job.

Will the cognac exactly match my sofa?

Very rarely does any repair colour match a decade-old sofa perfectly, because leather ages unevenly. Always test on a hidden panel first – the back of a cushion or under a skirt. In practice cognac blends well across most warm tan upholstery, and doing a whole panel rather than a small patch makes any slight difference invisible.
