Description
Kaps Nano Protector Spray — invisible, breathable protection for your favourite shoes
If there is one product I tell every customer to keep by the front door, it is a good protector spray. The Kaps Nano Protector Spray is exactly that: a clever, invisible shield that stops water, snow and salt from soaking into your shoes before the damage is done. I use it on everything from my leather brogues to my suede trainers, and it has saved more than a few pairs from a wet British winter.
What makes this one special is the nanotechnology. As you spray, the formula breaks down into microscopic beads that bond to the individual fibres of the material. The result is a protective layer you cannot see or feel, yet water simply rolls straight off. Because it works at fibre level rather than coating the surface, your shoes still breathe naturally — so your feet stay comfortable and the leather keeps its character.
Why choose the Kaps Nano Protector Spray?
- Long-lasting water, snow and salt repellency. The nano formula keeps moisture and winter road salt from penetrating, which is where most stains and watermarks come from.
- Completely invisible. It will not darken or change the colour of your shoes, so the finish you fell in love with stays exactly as it should.
- Suitable for almost any material. Use it confidently on smooth leather, suede, nubuck, textile and tex membranes — ideal if your wardrobe is a mix of everything.
- Keeps materials breathable. Unlike heavy waxes, the treatment lets air and moisture vapour escape, so trainers and walking shoes stay fresh.
- Generous 400ml can. Plenty of product to protect several pairs and top them up through the season.
How to use the Kaps Nano Protector Spray
- Remove all loose dirt and dust with a brush so the surface is clean and dry.
- Shake the can well before use.
- Holding it upright, spray evenly from around 20cm away until the surface is lightly and fully covered.
- Always spray outdoors or in a well-ventilated room.
- Leave the shoes to dry for at least a couple of hours — ideally overnight — before wearing.
- For brand-new shoes, apply two light coats to build up the protection from day one.
Haico’s tip: Protect your shoes before they get wet, not after. I treat every new pair the evening they arrive, then re-apply every couple of weeks in autumn and winter. A light regular top-up works far better than one heavy soaking, and it takes less than a minute.
Good to know
A protector spray is only as good as the surface you apply it to, so always start with clean, dry shoes — sealing dirt underneath the treatment does more harm than good. It is worth remembering that the spray is not suitable for patent (varnished) leather or coated synthetics, which have a sealed surface the formula cannot bond to. On everything else, though, it is one of the cheapest forms of insurance you can give your footwear: a few pence of protection can add months, even years, to the life of a good pair of shoes or boots.

Frequently asked questions
Will it change the colour of my suede?
No. The spray dries completely clear and will not darken suede or nubuck. As always, test a small hidden area first if you are unsure about a delicate colour.
How often should I re-apply?
For everyday shoes, every two to three weeks during wet weather. If you notice water no longer beading on the surface, it is time for a fresh coat.
Can I use it on my winter boots and bags?
Absolutely. It is excellent on leather and suede boots, and works beautifully on fabric and leather bags too.

I always used to have a different product, nanoshi, but I can’t get it any more. And this does exactly the same! Very happy with it
