Kaps Aubergine Shoe Cream 154 – natural wax Delicate Cream with sponge applicator
Aubergine is one of those shades that looks wonderful on a boot and impossible to match in a shop. This kaps aubergine shoe cream solves that: a deep purple-brown pigmented cream from a colour range that runs to dozens of shades, in a 50ml jar with a sponge applicator built in.
Kaps call this line Delicate Cream, and the name is a fair description. It is a natural wax cream that cleans lightly as you work it in, feeds the leather and brings the colour back up with fine pigments. The result is a soft shine rather than a mirror finish.
The sponge in the lid is a small thing that makes a real difference. You load it straight from the jar, work it over the upper, and you are not hunting for a cloth or a dauber – which is why this is the cream I suggest to people who are just starting to look after their shoes properly.
Value comes into it too. Kaps sits at a very sensible price for what is in the jar, so keeping a couple of shades in the cupboard does not feel like an indulgence. Shade 154 is the aubergine, and it also warms up a faded burgundy nicely.
Why choose Kaps Aubergine Shoe Cream?
A natural wax cream, a proper pigment load and an applicator you cannot lose. For everyday shoe care it is hard to argue with.
- Natural wax formula. The wax base feeds the leather and gives a gentle cleaning action as you work, so one product covers most of your weekly maintenance.
- Restores and revitalises the colour. Fine pigments lift a faded aubergine upper and disguise the scuffs that collect on toes and heels.
- Sponge applicator in the jar. Everything you need is in the pot – handy at home and genuinely useful in a travel bag.
- An enormous palette. The Delicate Cream range covers dozens of shades including metallics, so awkward colours like this one are actually available.
- Excellent value. Kaps offers one of the best price-to-quality ratios on our shelves, which makes it an easy first jar to buy.
- Leaves leather supple. A fed upper flexes instead of cracking, and it shrugs off rain and dirt marks far better than a dry one.
How to use Kaps Delicate Cream
Five minutes, and most of that is the shoes sitting quietly while the wax settles.
- Brush the shoes clean with a brush or wipe them with a slightly damp cloth, then let them dry.
- Press the sponge applicator into the cream and pick up a modest amount.
- Work the cream over the upper in small circles, covering the whole panel evenly.
- Pay particular attention to the toe, the heel and the flex creases, where colour wears away first.
- Let the shoes stand for ten to fifteen minutes so the wax and pigment can sink in.
- Buff up with a polishing cloth or a horsehair brush until you have the shine you want; add a second thin coat for deeper colour.

Frequently asked questions
Will aubergine work on burgundy shoes?
Often, yes. Aubergine sits between purple and deep brown, so it warms up a tired burgundy without going obviously purple. Test it on the inside of the heel and you will see immediately whether it suits.
Do I need a separate brush as well?
The sponge applies the cream perfectly well, but a horsehair brush makes the buffing quicker and gives a deeper shine. If you only buy one extra thing for your shoe care kit, make it that brush.
