Famaco Crème de Beauté Champagne 329 – the Parisian cream for pale, elegant leather

Pale shoes are wonderful right up to the moment they are not. Champagne, ivory and off-white leathers pick up every scuff from a kerb and every grey mark from a pavement, and an ordinary neutral polish simply seals that greyness in. This champagne shoe cream is the answer: a properly pigmented cream in exactly the right pale, warm tone, so the marks disappear rather than merely shine.

Famaco have been making shoe care in Paris since 1931, and the Crème de Beauté is their flagship cream. It is an all-natural wax polish based on beeswax, turpentine, carnauba and shea butter with a handful of other nourishing waxes, and it carries roughly twice the pigment of an ordinary shoe cream. That is why it covers so well while still feeling like a cream rather than a paint.

I recommend it for wedding shoes, summer loafers, cream leather trainers with smooth uppers, pale handbags and light leather jackets. If you own something pale and lovely, this is the 50ml jar to keep in the cupboard with it.

Why choose Famaco Crème de Beauté Champagne 329?

  • Double the pigment of an ordinary cream – Famaco load this formula heavily, so pale leather comes back to an even, warm champagne instead of a patchy off-grey.
  • Beeswax, carnauba and shea butter – nine nourishing waxes and butters in total. They keep the leather supple, which matters even more on pale hides because dry pale leather cracks visibly.
  • A shine you can build – brush it up for a soft satin glow, or keep going with a cloth for something closer to a gentle gloss. It is entirely up to you.
  • Made in Paris since 1931 – Famaco is a family firm with almost a century of leather knowledge behind it, and the consistency of the cream shows it.
  • One of over a hundred shades – if champagne is not quite right, the Crème de Beauté line runs to more than a hundred tones, so there is almost always an exact match.

How to use Famaco Crème de Beauté Champagne 329

  1. Brush the shoes down thoroughly to lift dust out of the seams and welt.
  2. Clean off old polish and grime with a smooth leather cleaner, then let the leather dry naturally.
  3. Take a little cream on a cloth or a polish brush and work it on in small circular strokes. Pale leather shows streaks, so keep the coat thin and even.
  4. Pay attention to scuffed toes, heel counters and the flex creases, using a dabbing motion to build the colour rather than rubbing hard.
  5. Let the cream dry for about fifteen minutes.
  6. Brush vigorously with a horsehair brush to lift away everything the leather has not absorbed, until a soft sheen appears.
  7. Finish with a clean cotton cloth, and add a second thin coat only if a mark still shows through.

Frequently asked questions

Will champagne cover the grey scuffs on my cream shoes?

That is precisely what it is for. Because the Crème de Beauté carries around twice the pigment of a standard cream, it fills in pale scuffs rather than glazing over them. Deep cuts in the leather will still be visible, but general scuffing and pavement grey lift out beautifully.

Is champagne the same as ivory or off-white?

Not quite. Champagne 329 is warmer, with a soft golden-beige cast, where ivory sits closer to a cool white. On most pale leathers champagne looks more natural, but if your shoes are a bright, cold white then a white or ivory shade will match better. Test on the inside heel first.

Do I need a brush, or is a cloth enough?

A cloth is fine for applying, but a horsehair brush makes a real difference at the buffing stage. Brushing removes the cream the leather has not taken up, and that is the step that turns a dull finish into a proper sheen.
