Collonil Nubuk + Textile Lime 103 – precise liquid colour care with a sponge head
Bright suede is wonderful right up to the moment it looks tired. A lime green trainer or a lime suede bag loses its punch quickly, and a spray is often too blunt an instrument for a shoe with pale soles and contrast stitching. That is where this lime suede colour reviver earns its place.
Collonil is a German house with a long pedigree in leather care, and Nubuk + Textile is their liquid colour care line: a 100ml bottle with a sponge applicator set into the neck. You press the sponge against the leather and the colour comes through it, which gives you real control over where the pigment goes.
That precision is the whole point. Because you are not spraying, you can work right up to a light sole, a white midsole or a stitched seam without masking anything off. It also makes it the sensible choice for shoes built from mixed materials.
It is made for suede, nubuck and textile uppers, and it also copes with modern high-tech membranes. Shade 103 is Collonil’s Lime: a fresh yellow-green that brings faded lime suede back to life rather than muddying it.
Why choose Collonil Nubuk + Textile Lime?
This is the product for the fiddly jobs – the trainers, the two-tone boots, the bag with pale piping.
- Sponge head for precise work. The applicator sits in the neck of the bottle, so you can colour right up to a seam or a pale sole without masking off half the shoe.
- Colour care, not paint. It refreshes the existing shade and feeds the nap at the same time, so the suede keeps its soft, open texture instead of going stiff.
- Made for mixed materials. Suede, nubuck, textile and high-tech uppers all take it well, which makes it ideal for modern trainers that combine three materials in one shoe.
- Water-repellent finish. Alongside the colour you get a measure of protection against rain and light stains – useful on a shade as unforgiving as lime.
- Neat 100ml bottle. Small enough to keep in the shoe cupboard, big enough to last many treatments, and no separate applicator to lose.
- Colourless variant available. If you ever need to lift a shade Collonil does not make, the colourless version reactivates the pigment already in the leather.
How to use Collonil Nubuk + Textile
Give yourself a quiet quarter of an hour and let the shoes dry properly before the nap is brushed up.
- Brush the shoes clean with a suede brush so there is no loose dirt left on the nap.
- Shake the bottle firmly – the pigments settle, and a good shake gives you an even colour.
- Press the sponge head down against the leather a couple of times until the liquid comes through.
- Work over the upper in overlapping strokes, keeping the pressure light and even. Do the whole panel rather than spot-treating, so you do not leave a tide mark.
- Let the shoes dry naturally, away from radiators and direct sun.
- Once dry, brush the nap up with a suede brush. A wax polish would clump the fibres together, so stick to the brush here.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use it on trainers with a white sole?
Yes, and that is exactly where the sponge head pays off. Work slowly along the edge of the midsole and wipe any stray colour off the rubber straight away with a damp cloth.
Will it make the suede stiff?
No. It is a liquid colour care rather than a paint, so the nap stays open and soft. Brushing once it is dry lifts the fibres back up and restores that velvety feel.
