How to use Collonil Nubuk + Textile

Six steps, and the last one is not optional – brushing the nap up afterwards is what stops suede from looking flat.

1. Brush the shoes clean with a suede or crêpe brush first, so there is no loose dirt left on the surface. Make sure they are completely dry.
2. Shake the bottle firmly for a few seconds. The pigment settles, and an unshaken bottle gives patchy coverage.
3. Press the sponge head against the material to release the liquid. Do not scrub – blot and glide, or the sponge can work loose from the neck.
4. Spread it evenly across the whole panel rather than dabbing spots. Getting enough onto the material is the key to an even result.
5. Leave the shoes to dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sun.
6. Once dry, brush the nap up with a suede brush to restore the velvety texture, then finish with a suede protector spray if you like.

Will it change the shade of my shoes?

It is designed to refresh, not to recolour. On coral, salmon and warm pink suede it brings the original shade back up. On a much paler or much darker suede the result will be a blend of the two, so always test on the inside of the heel or the tongue first.

What if I cannot find my exact shade?

Collonil make a colourless version of this bottle which reactivates whatever pigment is already in the suede. If your shade sits between two of theirs, that is the safe option – it deepens what is there without adding anything new.
