Description
Burgol Suede Velour Care Dark Brown (037) 100ml – Suede and Nubuck Dabber – colour back into brown suede, without an aerosol
Brown suede fades in a very particular way. The toes go pale, the flex creases go slightly grey, and the heel edges look scuffed and dusty long before the shoe is actually worn out. A dark brown suede reviver puts that colour back — and this Burgol bottle does it with a sponge dabber rather than a spray can, which makes a real difference to how much control you have.
Burgol is a Swiss shoe care house with a serious following among people who look after good shoes. The Suede Velour Care does three jobs in one bottle: it lifts light soiling, it feeds pigment back into faded suede and nubuck, and it leaves an impregnating, water-repellent finish behind. Shade 037 is a proper dark brown, which is the shade most chukka boots, desert boots and suede loafers need.
Because there is no propellant gas involved, you can use it indoors without filling the kitchen with aerosol mist, and you get pinpoint accuracy on a scuffed toe or a worn heel instead of overspray across the sole. Press the locking pin in the sponge head down against a firm surface once to charge the sponge, and you are away.
It is £11.99 for 100ml, it treats several pairs, and it is the product I hand to anyone who tells me their brown suede boots have “gone a bit sad”.
Why choose Burgol Suede Velour Care?
- Precision sponge dabber – the sponge head sits on the bottle, so you place colour exactly where it is needed instead of spraying the whole shoe and the floor.
- No propellant gas – safe and pleasant to use indoors, with no aerosol cloud and nothing wasted into the air.
- Cleans, recolours and protects – one bottle lifts light soiling, feeds dark brown pigment back into faded areas and leaves a water-repellent impregnating film.
- Keeps the nap soft – the lightweight, non-greasy formula dries without residue, so the suede stays velvety rather than matting down.
- Swiss made and pigment rich – Burgol build these with carefully selected raw materials, and the colour strength shows on badly faded toe caps.
- Part of a full colour range – available in eight shades plus colourless, so most suede in the wardrobe has a match somewhere in the range.
How to use Burgol Suede Velour Care
- Brush the shoes thoroughly with a suede brush to lift the nap and remove dust. Use a suede eraser on any shiny or set-in marks first.
- Shake the bottle well. Press the locking pin in the sponge head down firmly against a hard surface to charge the sponge with product.
- Dab the colour on evenly, working in overlapping strokes across the whole panel rather than only on the faded patch, so you avoid a visible edge.
- Let the shoes dry completely at room temperature, away from direct heat. Give them a couple of hours before you wear them.
- Brush the nap up once more in a single direction with a suede brush. Repeat with a second thin coat if the colour still looks patchy.

Frequently asked questions
Is a dabber better than a suede spray?
They do slightly different jobs. A spray covers a whole shoe quickly and evenly, which is ideal for a light all-over refresh. A dabber gives you control and a stronger deposit of colour, which is what you want on a badly faded toe cap or a scuffed heel. For rescue work, I would always reach for the dabber.
Will dark brown match my boots exactly?
Suede shades vary enormously, so treat it as a close blend rather than a perfect match. Test on the inside of the heel first and let it dry fully, because suede always looks darker while it is wet. If your boots are mid-tan, choose the light brown shade instead.
Does it make suede waterproof?
It leaves an impregnating, water-repellent finish that handles light rain and splashes well. For a proper soaking, follow up with a dedicated suede protector spray once the colour has dried.
Can I use it on suede furniture or a suede bag?
Yes, on both, as long as the material is genuine suede, nubuck or velour leather. Work in panels, test in a hidden spot first, and keep the coats thin so the nap does not mat.
