Description

Brush-it Dark Beige Leather Paint 15 – 25ml Opaque Shoe Paint with Brush – a warm sand tone that covers, brush included in the lid

Some jobs need a proper paint rather than a cream. A heel scuffed back to the raw leather, a pair of plain shoes you fancy in a warm sand tone, or a bag whose colour has simply given up. A shoe cream tints what is already there; a dark beige leather paint covers it, and that is a completely different proposition.

Brush-it is an extremely opaque paint for smooth leather, coated leather, textile and plastics. Shade 15 is a warm dark beige, closer to a soft sand or greige than to a yellow cream, which is the version that actually works on footwear where a brighter beige would look chalky. It is a genuinely useful shade for summer shoes, canvas trainers and pale boots that have gone patchy.

The pot holds 25ml and the brush sits in the lid, which makes precise work along welts, panels and stripes far easier than any sponge. There is a mixing ball in the pot as well, so a proper shake gives you an even colour before you start. The film stays flexible once dry, so it moves with the shoe instead of cracking across the flex line.

Why choose the Brush-it Dark Beige Shoe Paint?

Why a brush-in-lid paint is the right tool for a real change of shade.

  • Genuinely opaque. One or two coats and the old shade is gone. This is the product for a real transformation, or for damage that no shoe cream will ever hide.
  • The brush is built in. The brush sits in the cap, so you can work along a welt, around eyelets and into stitching without flooding the whole panel.
  • Flexible when dry. The film bends with the leather, which is why it survives on trainers and boots that flex hard with every step.
  • Leather, textile and plastic. Smooth and coated leather, canvas and plastic trims all take it, so you can do a whole shoe in one session rather than hunting for a second product.
  • A beige that suits real shoes. Dark beige 15 is a warm sand rather than a bright cream, so it sits comfortably on summer shoes, canvas trainers and pale boots without looking like a repair.
  • Excellent for patchy pale leather. Pale uppers stain and scuff in a way that no cleaner fully resolves. An opaque paint is often the only honest way to bring a light pair back to one even shade.

How to use the Brush-it Dark Beige Shoe Paint

Preparation decides the result. Nine failed paint jobs out of ten were rushed at the cleaning stage.

  1. Take out the laces and clean the shoes thoroughly, removing coarse dirt first.
  2. Degrease the surface with a leather cleaner or preparer so the paint has something to grip. Old wax and polish are the usual reason paint lifts later.
  3. Mask the sole edge, any rubber trim and anything you want to keep unpainted with low-tack tape.
  4. Shake the pot well and stir the paint with the brush until the colour is completely even.
  5. Apply the first coat thinly, following the shape of the panel with long strokes rather than dabbing, and let it dry for thirty to sixty minutes before you judge the coverage.
  6. Add a second and, if needed, a third thin coat, leave the shoes 24 hours before wearing them, then finish with a protector spray.

My tip from behind the counter

Thin coats, always. The temptation with an opaque paint is to lay it on thickly and be done in one pass, and that is precisely what produces a brittle film that cracks across the toe within a fortnight. Three thin coats take an afternoon and last for years; one thick coat takes twenty minutes and lasts a month. With a pale shade there is one more thing worth knowing: work in daylight rather than under a warm bulb, because a dark beige looks noticeably yellower under electric light and you will keep adding coats you do not need.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint a dark shoe a lighter shade with this?

Yes. Because it covers rather than penetrates, you are not bound by the usual light-to-dark rule. Going from dark brown to dark beige simply needs an extra thin coat or two, and a proper degrease first so the paint keys onto the surface evenly.

Will it crack when I walk?

Not if you build it in thin coats and let each one dry. The film is designed to stay flexible and move with the upper. Cracking almost always comes from a thick coat applied over an unprepared, waxy surface.

Do I need anything else to finish the job?

A leather cleaner or preparer beforehand and a protector spray afterwards. The cleaner is what makes the paint stick and the protector is what keeps the fresh colour clean once you are wearing them. Low-tack masking tape is worth having as well.
